With 600 miles of coastline, beautiful countryside, two National Parks
(Dartmoor and Exmoor), many historic cities and a vast choice of outdoor
activities, the West Country is an ideal destination. The beautiful city
of Bath, with its Roman baths and splendid Georgian architecture, is the
most popular city in the region. Salisbury, with its magnificent
cathedral, has a street of 14th century houses said to be the oldest in
Europe. There is much to see and enjoy in this region, which inspired
many great writers over the centuries, from Thomas Hardy to Daphne du
Maurier to Agatha Christie.
